03: Grow Your Business podcast from WebProjectUK! Broadcasting directly from the digital powerhouse city of Manchester. Today I am going to share with you 5 Social Media Tips to help you grow your small business online.
Welcome to the third episode of Grow Your Business podcast brought to you by Manchester based WebProjectUK.com.
Thank you so much for taking time to listen to this podcast! I am honoured.
Today I want to share with your 5 Social Media Tips to help you grow your small business online.
So lets dive into it:
Tip 1: I will start off with Twitter:
Recently Twitter increased the character limit from 140 to 280. But this does not mean that you should double your ‘how great I am type of message’.
Therefore, you need to step back and review your existing tweets to see what is already working. By analysing the historical tweets you can determine the following:
1. What topics your audiences loves the most.
2. The length of your most effective tweets.
3. Do your most popular tweets include videos, images or just text?
By doing this simple research you will find out what works and what does not.
This information will help you start crafting longer tweets which you know will touch your target audience.
If you are new to Twitter then this will obviously be a bit of a problem. So my advice is to start experimenting today in order to start building this historic data.
Tip 2: The smarter way to maximise your Instagram marketing
In order to get the best out of Instagram you need to first understand how to use the platform. Start of by looking at your competitor profiles. Find out what is working for them! As well as your competitors search for your ideal customers by looking at your competitors followers. Take time to examine at least 20 individual profiles in order to understand their common behaviour.
Use this information to craft better images and messages. I would also highly recommend you start focusing on Video’s as they are the future of social media marketing.
As with any social media platform consistency is the key!
Tip 3: Make use of Re-targeting
Almost all social media platforms allow you to re-target their users who have visited your website. I have mentioned this in the first podcast and I will mention it again just because it’s awesome!
Let me give you an example: A customer lands on your product or service page but does not take any action. Assuming you have the correct code installed on your website from the relevant social media platform you can then create an ad on that platform to re-target that visitor.
It’s gets even better! You can actually make the advert specific to the product or service they have already shown interest in. This type of marketing can work wonders as most of the time potential customers only need a slight push over the line.
Tip 4: Social Media marketing through the festive period
Oh boy do I love this time of year! Customer wallets are wide open as they wonder around the internet and shops looking for their next purchase. They want to spend money and you need to help them do just that.
Where do you start?
Start by creating your own hashtag theme. For example you can ask your fans to share their favourite past time Xmas presents or festive photos.
Create detailed and in depth xmas gift guides but don’t base it just around your own products! Think outside the box. It’s ok to connect with other businesses during this process. Pull each other up!
Everyone loves freebies! So why not run a weekly giveaway contests. The more you get your social media followers involved and emotionally attached the more likely they are to spend their cash with you.
Also don’t forget the festive season is full of laughter, love and emotion. So make sure you include content which reflects this through text, images and video. Try to connect with your followers on a personal level.
Tip 5: Get on YouTube
Video marketing is the future. I know I have mentioned this earlier but I feel I need to mentioned it again. Earlier I was talking about using video on Instagram but now I want to focus your attention on YouTube.
With over 1 billion active users it’s the platform that can’t be ignored. The good news is that cost of video production has fallen. Today you can use your smartphone to record your promotional videos.
The next question is what do you talk about?
If you are a retailer then the road is endless. You can create videos around product reviews, latest trends, best selling products, customer testimonials, provide advice and so on.
I think that covers everything for today.
I hope you enjoyed listing to the Grow Your Business podcast and I look forward to welcoming you back again tomorrow for the 4 episode. Where I will be sharing tips on Pay Per Click Marketing.
Bye, Bye for now!
